Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
I treat OCD with Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy. ERP is a type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) where a person is gradually exposed to feared scenarios in a controlled manner while they practice resisting compulsions. With successful treatment, over time compulsions become easier to resist, and intrusive thoughts become less distressing, restoring functioning and improving wellbeing. ERP can be used to treat any “subtype” of OCD (OCD with any theme).
ERP is highly effective, significantly reducing symptoms in 60%-80% of people, and is currently considered the gold-standard treatment for OCD.
I am experienced in treating OCD with relational, sexual, moral, and contamination themes, among others. To provide more comprehensive care to clients with OCD, I am also trained in treating commonly co-occurring conditions, such as anxiety and depression disorders.
